Haruni J. Machumu (PhD)Lecturer and Head of Department

Dr. Haruni Machumu has an interest in educational leadership and management as well as quality issues in educational technology integration. He has been a faculty member at the Faculty of Social Sciences – Mzumbe University since 2008. He is currently the head of the Department of Educational Foundations and Teaching Management (EFTM). He has a PhD in educational sciences from Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium. His PhD research is situated in the area of educational technology integration (blended learning, e-learning and online learning). His research interests lie in the area of ICT in education and pedagogy, human communication, e-learning theory, design and implementation; educational financing, quality assurance in education. He has collaborated actively with researchers on students and teachers exchange programmes, project write-up and implementation. Machumu instructs a popular research methodology in education course to undergraduate students. He supervises undergraduate, Master and PhD candidates. Dr. Jimmy Ezekiel Kihwele Lecturer

Dr. Jimmy Ezekiel Kihwele is a Lecturer in the Department of Educational Foundations and Teaching Management at Mzumbe University, Tanzania. Dr. Kihwele holds a PhD in Teacher Education from Beijing Normal University in Beijing, China (2021), MA in Education from the University of Dodoma, Tanzania (2012) and BEd Arts from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (2009). Dr Kihwele has specialized on areas related to Teacher Education (Policy and Practices). Courses he teaches at Mzumbe University include Comparative Education, Principles of Curriculum Development and Teaching, and History of Education. Dr Kihwele has authored and published several articles in the field of teacher education (Both Pre-service and In-service) in both local and international journals. His research interests include Pre-service and In-service teacher professional development, Teacher learning, Comparative and international education, Curriculum and Instructions, Lesson and Learning Studies, Action research in education, Teacher emotions and teacher identity. Before joining Mzumbe University in 2014, he worked as a secondary school teacher where he acquired knowledge about teaching context and developed an interest in researching in the area of teacher education.

Raiza MtandiTutor

Raiza is a tutor in the Department of Educational Foundations and Teaching Management at the Faculty of Social Sciences – Mzumbe University where she has been a faculty member since 2015. She is currently completing her Master dissertation at Mzumbe University. Raiza did her first degree at the University of Dodoma. Her research interests lie in the following areas designing and financing educational projects, teaching and learning: the process, approaches and environment and teacher education. Raiza is the instructor for Economics of Education and Financing, Professionalism and Ethics in Education and Business Teaching Methods to undergraduate student teachers.

Dr. Mustapha AlmasiEducator and a Psychologist

Mustapha Almasi (PhD) is an Educator and a Psychologist. He teaches Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counseling and Philosophy of Education at the Department of Educational Foundations and Teaching Management in Faculty of Social Sciences, Mzumbe University. Dr. Mustapha does research in Educational Technology, Educational Sciences, Psychology of Learning, Social Psychology, Blended Learning and Counseling Psychology. His current projects are student interaction and sense of community in blended learning courses, psychological impacts of COVID-19 on children and families, and Tanzanian Educational Institutions’ Response during Covid-19 Pandemic. He holds a PhD in Educational Sciences (Blended Learning) from the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Brussels, Belgium. He has conducted and published several pieces of research in education and psychology field. He has published several books in Biology which are used in secondary education in Tanzania. He has visited and presented several papers in various international conferences in countries like Rwanda, South Africa, Indonesia, Pakistan, Austria, Spain, and Belgium among others. Academic interests: Blended learning, Educational Technology, Psychology of Learning, Guidance and Counselling Psychology

Edward Noel MwamakulaAssistant Lecturer

Edward is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Educational Foundations and Teaching Management at the Faculty of Social Sciences – Mzumbe University where he has been a faculty member since 2004. Jacob Salasu is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Educational Foundations and Teaching Management at the Faculty of Social Sciences – Mzumbe University where he has been a faculty member since 2011. Joyce KiwaraAssistant Lecturer

Ms. Joyce is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Educational Foundations and Teaching Management at the Faculty of Social Sciences – Mzumbe University where she has been a faculty member since 2011. She completed her Diploma in Education at Morogoro Teachers College, Bachelor of Arts, Postgraduate Diploma in Education and MA. Ed at the University of Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania. Her research interests lie in the area of Curriculum and teaching, Sociology of Education, Educational Media and Technology, Measurement and Evaluation, and Comparative Education. Dr. Bryson D. KinyadukaLecturer

Dr. Bryson Kinyaduka is a Lecturer in the Department of Educational Foundations and Teaching Management in the Faculty of Social Sciences – Mzumbe University where he has been a faculty member since 2008. Dr. Kinyaduka obtained his Certificate in Education from Tabora Teacher Training College and a Diploma in Education from Mpwapwa Teachers’ Training College. He earned his Bachelor of Arts with Education from the University of Dar Es Salaam and Master of Arts in Education from the University of Dodoma. His area of specialisation is Educational Psychology & Curriculum studies. His research interests include Language policy in education, teacher education, Gender and education, lifelong learning, Justice in education, implementation science in education. He has published in several international and local journals.

Dr. Perpetua Joseph Kalimasi Senior Lecturer

Dr Perpetua Joseph Kalimasi is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Educational Foundations and Teaching Management at the Faculty of Social Sciences – Mzumbe University where he has been a faculty member since 2008. B.A.Ed. (UDSM), MBA (UDSM), MSc in Development Management (Agder - Norway), PhD (Pretoria – South Africa). She has involved in collaborative capacity-building projects mobility programmes, academic networks and education-based consultancies. Perpetua specialises in educational management and law, education policy studies. Her research dwells on Entrepreneurial Education, Higher Education, Lifelong Learning, Vocational education, Gender and Inclusive Education and Management education. She is also working as an external examiner for various Schools of Education in Tanzania and within the African Region such as the University of Pretoria and the University of Fort Hare in South Africa.

Mr David Cosmas Assistant Lecturer

Mr David Cosmas is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Educational Foundations and Teaching Management at the Faculty of Social Sciences – Mzumbe University where he has been a faculty member since January 2015. Dr. Stephano Nalaila Lecturer

Stephano Nalaila holds a PhD in Comparative Education and International Studies and Master of Education (Comparative Education) from Kenyatta University: BA with Education from University of Dar es Salaam; and Ordinary Diploma in Teacher Education from Morogoro Teacher’s College. Nalaila has worked at Mzumbe University since 2011 to date, currently a Lecturer who teaches Comparative Education, Research Methods in Education and Study Skills at the Department of Education Foundations and Teaching Management (Faculty of Social Sciences). His research interest focuses on World Systems of education, Digital literacy Skills for Learning, 3Rs, Gender Equity and Inclusive Pedagogies. He is a co-founder of the East African Comparative and International Education Society (EA-CIES), an East African Indigenous education chapter and research firm. The recent research works and publications highlights about Transformative learning, Support for students’ Digital Literacy Skills for learning. Low Income household and Women Resourcefulness and Support for Free Basic Education. Nalaila is also an editor of various academic and professional works; currently, he is Editorial Board Member and Secretary to Mzumbe University Research Bulletin; editorial Board member for the Tanzania’s Annual Health Sector Performance Profile (AHSPP) and Editor of The Journal of Contemporary African Legal Studies (CALS).
