Dr. Romanus L. Dimoso, a Tanzanian born on 13th June, 1964 in Morogoro, Tanzania, is a PhD holder awarded in 2009 at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. His areas of academic competences and specializations are Environmental and Natural Resource Economics, Agricultural Economics, Econometrics, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Public Sector Economics, Monetary Economics, and Quantitative Research Methodology. Dr. Dimoso is currently actively engaged in teaching Advanced Econometrics Theory, Applied Econometrics and Advanced Quantitative Research Methods for Masters and PhD students at Mzumbe University inclusive of all its campus colleges and training centres in the country. He is also supervising both PhD and Masters Students in their research and theses writing.
Dr. Romanus L. Dimoso has carried out a wide range of academic, professional and administrative posts. Of recent, he was the Head of Mzumbe University Mwanza Centre. Dr. Dimoso was the Acting Director and later full Director of the Directorate of Research, Publications and Postgraduate Studies of Mzumbe University for six years from January 2012 to December 2017. In between 2015 – 2017, the University Council appointed him to serve as Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration and Finance) of Mzumbe University.
Dr. Dimoso is an external examiner in economics related programmes to various academic institutions of high learning in the country and abroad including Dodoma based Institute of Rural Development Planning - IRDP and Sokoine University of Agriculture - SUA (local) and University of Zambia and University of Malawi (foreign). Based on his academic expertise and administrative treasury, Dr. Dimoso was involved in a number of profiled consultancies commissioned by the university and outside organizations. Amongst consultancies commissioned by the university are being the chair of various committees including but not limited to the 4th Mzumbe University Corporate Strategic Plan (2017/18-2020/2021), the 14th and 15th Mzumbe University Graduation Committees (2015-2016), Mzumbe University Review Committees of Publication Policy and Postgraduate Guidelines, Mzumbe University Housing Committee, et cetera. Amongst consultancies commissioned by outside organizations are conducting Technical Evaluation for assessing and verifying the readiness of Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE) to upgrade to the Certificate of Accreditation (CoA) level. In this consultancy, Dr. Dimoso was the chairperson of the Technical Evaluation Committee appointed by Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU). Others of similar nature and the capacity he was performing in brackets are: Reviewing Bachelor of Science in Business Administration offered by Mbeya University College of Science and Technology (MUST) commissioned by Inter University Council of East Africa –IUCEA (Team member), reviewing Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance offered by the then Moshi University College of Business and Cooperatives (MUCCoBs) commissioned by Inter University Council of East Africa-IUCEA (Team member) and being a Chief Adviser and Senior Economist for all Catholic Church Development Projects in the Diocese of Morogoro appointed by his Lordship Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Morogoro.
